Chairman re-iterates gratitude for 'unbelievable' Season Ticket holders

Pete Winkelman has re-iterated his immense gratitude to the 3,500-plus Season Ticket holders who, despite the uncertainty, have chosen to renew for the 2020/21 campaign.

Speaking on MKFM, the Chairman explained how vital the money received through Season Ticket payments is for the Football Club, at a time when the business is generating very little other income due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“At a time when the doors are shut and there is no money coming in, the season ticket income gives all the club supporters, from the banks to the creditors, a real confidence that we are one of the businesses that will pull through this,” he said during a Q&A with MKFM.

“What I think is unbelievable about our supporters is that a lot of them have gone through the hardest times following our football club and yet, they have been there for us and they continue to be there for us.

"We still don’t have definitive news on how next season will start because it’s a really uncertain time, but they are still renewing Season Tickets for next year. We are so grateful.”

Winkelman also addressed the possibility of recompensating supporters once it becomes clear how football will resume.

“We haven’t got definitive answers yet. There is a real will in the EFL to complete this season – but whether that’s behind closed doors or in a different format we don’t know.

"What I can tell our Season Ticket holders is, that if refunds are appropriate they will be given, and if we play behind closed doors, then we’re looking at how the iFollow situation could work to make sure supporters can still watch games.

“Unfortunately, though, no one actually knows at the moment. We are locked down and we have to make the decisions as and when they are appropriate.”
