Russell Martin aims to maintain the connection between the supporters and the first-team at Stadium MK.
Martin’s men have been in terrific form in Milton Keynes since the start of December, winning six of their last seven home games, including their last three.
Each of those six successes has ended with the boss celebrating in front of Cowshed – a ritual he didn’t plan but one he hopes he can continue for the remainder of the season.
“The fans have been brilliant here and I hope that keeps strengthening,” the boss said in his pre-match press conference when asked about the fans and their relationship with the squad.
“I never set out to celebrate like I did after the Oxford game – it was the end of a tough week for me, outside of this building, and it was just relief to get the first win. Since then, it's something that has just happened.
“The fans were brilliant to be as a player and it’s continued as the manager. I had letters of support when I took the job and they have made things so much easier for me, settling in.
“They have been really behind me right from the start, even when we didn't have that win.”
He continued: “The players are feeling that love too. You can see them celebrating with the fans now as well - they're extremely grateful for the support.
“It would be really easy for the fans to get impatient, with the way that we play and in the position we are in, but they have been brilliant and I hope that keeps strengthening.”
