Luke: Home fans play a huge role

Assistant manager praises home supporters for their positive impact...

Luke Williams has praised the impact that the MK Dons supporters have had on the team’s success at Stadium MK.

Since Russell Martin’s appointment as manager back in November, and Williams' subsequent arrival as assistant, the Dons have won six of their nine league matches at home and lost only three times, while keeping four clean sheets.

Of the seven league goals they’ve conceded at Stadium MK during that time, remarkably, only one has come in front of the Cowshed and Williams believes that has a lot to do with the supporters.

“When you look at the goals we’ve conceded here over the last couple of months, they’ve all come in front of the away fans,” Williams said in an interview with iFollow MK Dons this week.

“I think we’ve only conceded one goal in front of our fans and that’s not a coincidence. They play a massive part, with the energy and atmosphere they create - the players feed off of that for sure.”

“On Saturday, there was a group, behind the goal from the beginning of the game, who created an atmosphere and a tempo for us for the first 20 minutes – I think the boys played to that tempo.”
