Exeter, meanwhile, overturned a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, beating Colchester United 3-1 at St James Park to book another date at Wembley Stadium - their third Play-Off Final in four years.

Stanley skipper signs on
Accrington Stanley captain Seamus Conneely has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

The 31-year-old defender has scored 11 goals in 219 appearances since joining from Sligo Rogers and will now remain at the Wham Stadium until at least 2022.

Oxford extend Long’s stay
Oxford United defender Sam Long has signed a new two-year contract with the U’s.

Long, an Oxford Academy product, scored twice in 29 appearances during the 2019/20 season, helping Karl Robinson’s side secure a play-off semi-final against Portsmouth.

Sunderland keep hold of Maguire but lose keeper McLaughlin
Sunderland have taken up the option of a further year on the contract of winger Chris Maguire.

The former Scotland international has scored 20 goals in 84 games since moving to the Stadium of Light, 11 of which came during the 2019/20 season.

However, goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin has rejected the offer of a new deal with the Black Cats to join Scottish side Rangers. The Scotland international played 90 games for the club.

Tangerines captain to depart
Blackpool captain Jay Spearing will leave Bloomfield Road when his contract expires later this month.

The former Liverpool midfielder joined in 2017 and made 120 appearances for the Tangerines. He played 36 times during the 2019/20 season.

Midfielder exits Posh
Peterborough United midfielder Mark O’Hara has joined Motherwell.

O’Hara, who scored four goals in 22 appearances for Darren Ferguson’s men, spent time on loan with ‘Well last season.

Promoted Plymouth extend trio’s deals
Newly-promoted Plymouth Argyle have re-signed centre-backs Scott Wootton and Neil Canavan as well as midfielder Conor Grant.

Wootton, a former Don, played 35 games for the Pilgrims last season while Canavan totalled 39 appearances. Grant scored two goals from the middle of the park in 2019/20.
