MK Dons announce which players are under contract for the 2020/21 season...

20 June 2020

MK Dons can today announce their retained list following the conclusion of the 2019/20 campaign, with 15 players under contract for the upcoming season.

The following 11 players are under contract with MK Dons in accordance with the contracts they signed prior to the 2019/20 campaign:

Kieran Agard, Hiram Boateng, Jordan Bowery, Baily Cargill, Alex Gilbey, Rhys Healey, Jordan Houghton, Conor McGrandles, Lee Nicholls, Regan Poole, George Williams

The following three players signed new contracts during the 2019/20 campaign:

David Kasumu, Sam Nombe, Matthew Sorinola

MK Dons have exercised their option to extend the following player’s contract, which was due to expire at the end of this month:

Jay Bird

MK Dons have offered new contracts to the following three players, whose current deals are set to expire at the end of this month:

Callum Brittain, Dean Lewington, Joe Walsh

The Club have, at this time, not made offers of new contracts to the following nine players, whose current deals are set to expire at the end of this month:

Dylan Asonganyi, Ben Gladwin, Ryan Harley, Joe Mason, Stuart Moore, Jordan Moore-Taylor, Charlie Pattison, Ben Reeves, Laurie Walker

The Club can also confirm that manager Russell Martin’s playing contract will expire at the end of June and will not be renewed. He will, of course, remain as first-team manager of MK Dons.

The following three players have returned to their parent clubs following the expiration of their loan deals:

Andrew Fisher, Carlton Morris, Louis Thompson

MK Dons are grateful to both Blackburn Rovers and Norwich City for allowing us to continue the development of their exciting young players.

Manager Russell Martin told mkdons.com: “By far the toughest day of my managerial career was talking to the players who are being released. These are guys who I’ve been teammates with and have been great for us on and off the pitch. I am so grateful for everything they’ve given me since taking over and I know the Club is appreciative of their efforts too. We wish them all the best.

“There are guys on the released list who we’ll remain in dialogue with while we work out where we’re going to be financially next season. We’ll stay in conversation with them to see if we can sort something out for them to return, but it has to be right for the Football Club given the climate that we are in.

“I hope to have Ryan back in some capacity. He’s been excellent bridging that gap between the players and staff and he’s played a key role for us. There won’t be anything immediate on that, though, because there are lots of other things we need to sort out first, and Ryan understands that.

“In terms of the players we’ve offered contracts too, we’re waiting to hear back from those guys on their decisions. Hopefully we can get their futures sorted, and early, before we have those discussions with the others we may look to keep.”

The following 11 scholars are under contract for the 2020/21 season:

Joshua Bailey, Malaki Black, Tom Carter, Max Crane, Jack Davies, Rio Deall, John Freeman, James Holmes, Tali Jallow, Harry Riley, Tom Rowley

John Freeman, who suffered a broken leg in the first year of his apprenticeship, has been granted an extension to remain with the Club a little longer into the 2020/21 season.

The following five scholars have not been offered professional contracts and will leave MK Dons this summer at the end of their apprenticeships:

Finlay Brennan, Ollie Leach, Jamie Robinson, George Rose, Jamal Sule

Academy Manager Jon Goodman told mkdons.com: “All the scholars have been a pleasure to work with and have developed into outstanding young men.

“Despite not achieving their ultimate goal of a professional contract, their academic qualifications have been excellent and they are prepared with a definite plan for the coming year. We wish them every success moving forwards with their careers.”

MK Dons would to thank all those who will be departing the Club for their contributions and wish each and every one of them every success in the future.
