Live sport gets back underway at Stadium MK this afternoon in the form of snooker as the Matchroom.Live Championship League, which is being held at the Marshall Arena.

The tournament takes place over 11 days, as 64 of the world’s best snooker players compete to for the title.

The event comes to the home of MK Dons for the first time and will take place behind closed doors, with strict measures in place to ensure the safety of all those in attendance.

The tournament echoes the football equivalent of the Champions League, with players being split into 16 groups of four. The players will then face off against each other over the best of four frames.

Three points are awarded for a win, with one point awarded for a draw. Come the end of the Group Stage, only the Group Winner will progress into the next round.

The opening day of the tournament, which gets underway at 3pm, features some of the great names in the modern game, including World Number One Judd Trump (pictured) taking to the floor to face David Grance, Elliot Slessor and Daniel Wells.

World Number 11 David Gilbert also opens his tournament today, he faces off against Jackson Page, Jak Jones and Stuart Carrington.

ITV4 will be airing daily coverage the competition for those in the UK. Today’s coverage begins at 2.50pm.
