Sam Nombe enjoyed a breakout season in 2019/20 and was recognised for his efforts by receiving the MKDSA Young Player of the Year award.

The 21-year-old scored five goals in 25 appearances, including his first league goal for the Club in the 2-1 win over AFC Wimbledon live on Sky Sports.

While pleased with his performances last term, Nombe is looking to improve and make sure he’s even better in 2020/21.

“It’s a good feeling to have won an award like this, having come through the ranks in the Academy,” Nombe said during MKFM’s MK Dons Virtual Awards Night.

“I’ll be looking now to push forward and continue improving as a player. It’s a shame that we couldn’t finish last season off but we look forwards now. We’re still in League One and we’re going to push to improve and develop as a team.

“I’m missing football every day. I’m playing football around the house which is stressing out the missus because she thinks I’m going to break something!

“I’m doing a lot of running and a lot of cycling. It’s getting a bit tedious but we have to do what we have to do to get ready for the new season and make sure we’re ready for then we come back.”
