Martin happy with squad as deadline approaches

Dons boss on possible transfer activity before Friday's 11pm deadline...

Russell Martin hasn’t ruled out further activity in this transfer window but the MK Dons boss says he is happy with his current squad.

Martin has made three additions to his side this month while allowing only one player to depart, and has until 11pm this Friday to conduct any further business before the January Transfer Window closes.

“At the moment there is nothing imminent,” Martin said in his pre-match press conference, ahead of Tuesday’s Sky Bet League One clash with Rochdale.

“There could be things happening this week, with people leaving and possibly coming in, but we’ll just have to wait and see – things change hourly in January.

“We’re still short in certain areas but I feel we're maximising what we've got. If we add to our squad before the end of the week then brilliant, but if not then I’m happy with what we’ve got.

“In terms of outgoings, we have players who have played a lot of football who aren't even in the matchday squads at the moment which is frustrating for them.

“They are still very much part of the squad. They are training with us and getting all the details if we need them at some point. Their attitudes have been spot on.

“I'm in daily contact with those players on it and I’m sure there will be interest because they're good players.”
