Houghts praised after dazzling Bristol Rovers display

3 January 2020

Russell Martin reserved special praise for midfielder Jordan Houghton after his scintillating display in the 3-0 win over Bristol Rovers.

Houghton, in his second season at Stadium MK, dictated much of the play from the centre of the park and capped off a superb performance by providing the assist for Kieran Agard’s third goal late on.

“He’s been brilliant,” Martin said when asked about his 24-year-old central midfielder.

“We’re asking him to conduct everything in there. We’re asking him to control the game, in and out of possession. He probably has to be the bravest person in the stadium and he’s done that.

“I believe in Jordan and his ability. He came here with great pedigree and he’s growing with every performance.

“He isn’t one that is singled out or praised often enough because he just gets on with it, but he’s been excellent.

“He’s becoming so important to the team and hopefully that will give him the confidence to keep growing and keep getting better.”
