MK Dons Sport and Education Trust have won the opportunity to deliver the NCS programme – a government initiative ran nationally to promote self-development in young people in the Milton Keynes and Bedfordshire
The programme, for those aged 15 – 17, kicks-off this summer and is split into four weeks.
The first week, titled Be Epic, will require young people to take on a series of adventure-fuelled activities such as rock climbing, abseiling, and raft building.
The young people will then have the chance to Do Good in the community. When planning and executing a social-action project in the last two weeks, the young people are encouraged to choose a cause or a charity that they are passionate about and fundraise or contribute to an NCS legacy in the local community.
To wrap it all up, there will be an NCS graduation in the fourth week where we celebrate all of the hard work and wins that will have been achieved over the summer alongside a certificate for the keeping.
The NCS programme costs £50, with bursaries available for families who need it. MK Dons SET also offer opportunities for summer work and will be hosting interviews in the lead up to the programme (over-18s only).
