Russell Martin was praise for in-form Rhys Healey, when discussing the striker in his pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Lincoln City.
Healey has enjoyed a terrific 2019/20 campaign with the Dons, scoring nine goals in just 11 starts since arriving on a permanent deal from Cardiff City in August, but it’s not just in front of goal where the 24-year-old is impressing his manager.
“He has been brilliant,” boss Martin said of Healey in the build-up to his side’s Sky Bet League One clash at the LNER Stadium.
“I was very demanding of him when I took over and he has improved on and off the pitch.
“He's being asked to play a different role than he's used to and he has done it brilliantly. It's not just what he brings up front, but his overall work rate too and his ability to bring others into the game.
“It's proving really effective and he's a real threat. He could have a couple of more goals too.
Hopefully that form continues and he keeps going.”
