Gladwin glee following Wycombe goal

4 February 2020

Ben Gladwin struggled to hide his happiness following his first goal for three years last time out against Wycombe Wanderers.

Due to two unfortunate injuries, Gladwin was forced to miss nearly 800 days of football, but his return to the game has started in a positive fashion.

The midfielder was put in impressive performances off the bench of late and added to his return with the second goal in the 2-0 win over The Chairboys last Saturday.

Despite scoring his first goal for nearly three-years, Gladwin put personal pride aside and expressed his delight at picking up three points.

“The result is the most important thing,” Gladwin told the media after the win. “I’m glad I could come on and create that bit of distance within a result so it makes the game a bit easier towards the end – the result was the main thing today and it was a big win for us.

“It kept opening up for me though and I thought I’m going to have to shoot in a minute so I swung and it went in – that’s all I remember.”

Following his goal, Gladwin was mobbed by his MK Dons teammates, the 27-year-old was keen to thank the dressing room for their support and praised the group for their togetherness.

“I think a lot of them know my story and the fact I was out injured for so long – they are a fantastic bunch - It meant a lot to me. I’m really pleased to get my first goal and I’m glad that the two years are behind me.

“It was a really proud moment, especially the way the boys came over to me. I really enjoyed it and I’ll go home and spend the evening with my family.”
