Daniel Harvie was happy to help MK Dons sign off the calendar year with a thumping win over Swindon Town.

The wing back netted his second league goal of the season on Tuesday and provided an assist too, as Russell Martin’s men ran out 4-1 winners at the Energy Check County Ground to make it back-to-back victories to end 2020.

“We spoke about it after Saturday that back-to-back wins would be essential,” Harvie told iFollow MK Dons following the game. “We’re pleased to win 4-1 and get the three points.

“Scoring first puts us in a great position. Throughout the season, we've conceded first too many times and then it becomes an uphill battle against teams.

“We had a good lead to hold on to at 3-1 and that made the second half different – Swindon came out with a bit more and put the ball forwards a lot but when things get ugly, you have to dig in deep. The fourth goal made things more comfortable.”

He added: “We'll rest up, and we'll be back on the training ground and look forward to the next game.”

Harvie put MK Dons two-nil up with a deft chip over Swindon goalkeeper Matej Kovar, after latching onto a pass from Scott Fraser, who had done brilliantly himself to control a cross-field pass from Ben Gladwin.

“It was a good assist from Scott!” Harvie said. “He's a really good player and I think getting him on the ball is crucial because you know he'll make something happen.

“I think, personally, I should have a few more goals this season but we're working on that. Scott and Cammy are scoring a few goals, but we have to help them and I was delighted to do that tonight.

“We [as wing-backs] always try and get to the far post when the opposite wing-back has the ball, so sometimes you pop up in the box a bit more. When you do, you've got to have that composure to finish.”
