Glads delighted with bounce back win

28 December 2020

MK Dons returned to winning ways on Boxing Day as they ran out 2-0 winners over Bristol Rovers.

Goals from Ben Gladwin and Scott Fraser secured all three points for Russell Martin’s side as the Dons climbed to 15th in the Sky Bet League One table.

It was a dominant performance from Martin’s side boasted 62% possession and completed 559 passes.

With a goal and three points on Boxing Day – Gladwin described Saturday as the perfect afternoon.

“I’m delighted,” the midfielder told iFollow MK Dons. “It's good to come to football and enjoy it, to be honest. Hopefully, we can kick on and pick up some more points.

“We started well and probably relieved a bit of pressure from ourselves early on by changing what we do slightly - and it worked. We got good control of the game, but even at 0-0 - I always felt we were going to win that game.

“Plymouth was disappointing, but we tend to do that. The group is fully together, we really believe in what we do and we believe in what the manager is asking us to do - it was the perfect way to bounce back.

“We looked solid defensively, credit to all the guys back there. Baily Cargill coming off the bench was brilliant and they gave us a good base to work on. We had more chances than a 2-0 win – but we’re pleased to get the win.”

The 28-year-old netted his third goal for MK Dons in the victory over The Gas – all of which have been from outside the box.

“I don’t get in the box enough to score tap ins! The first one was quite close, so I got my eye in, they kept dropping so when the second one went in I was buzzing with it.

“It was one of the first time the ball dropped to me in that area, I was pleased to see a bit of the ball. Regan made a good run and took the guy away, if he'd have stepped to me I'd have played him in. But he didn't and I just let one go!”

The Dons recorded their fifth clean sheet on Saturday afternoon with Gladwin reserving high praise for the defence.

“We looked solid defensively, credit to all the guys back there. Baily Cargill coming off the bench was brilliant and they gave us a good base to work on. We had more chances than a 2-0 win – but we’re pleased to get the win.”
