MK Dons played an intra-squad friendly this afternoon as the second week of pre-season training came to a close.
After an intense couple of weeks training, the squad were put into a match situation for the first time with the game being three 15-minute thirds.
The match gave Russell Martin, Luke Williams and Dean Thornton the chance to see their squad in action for the first time this season.
“It’s important for the players to try and show us how they’ve come back from the break because when you see them playing a game you can get a good gauge of where they are at.
“It’s very important from a football point of view, but it’s not critical, as we know we need more quality time to coach the players.”
Williams added, “We can see who is at what stage of their conditioning and that’s very helpful for us. It’s the most enjoyable way for the players to get their conditioning which helps!”
