Russ keen to spotlight hard-working staff

Boss reserves mention for backroom team for their support in resuming training...

While most of the focus during his first pre-season press conference was on his playing squad, Russell Martin was keen to make sure his backroom staff received the spotlight.

A number of Covid-secure protocols have been put in place to ensure the Dons can begin their preparations for the 2020/21 season – that on top of the usual planning and work that goes into pre-season training.

“The staff have been unbelievable,” Martin said during his press conference. “The club has done everything it possibly could to look after everyone and make sure we could return to training.

“Simon [Crampton] in particular has been so important. He has worked tirelessly over the last few months to make sure we are prepared. I’ve got a huge amount of gratitude for him and, of course, Andy [Cullen]."

He added to mkdons.com: “Everyone has played their part and deserve a mention - Luke Williams, Dean Thornton, Matt Willmott, Adam Ross, Tom Bromley, Liam Sweeting, Ben Parker and Ian Lanning, as well as everyone outside our first-team staff who have played their part."
