Keogh 'hungry' to get playing again

10 August 2020

Richard Keogh has made over 500 professional appearances during his career – and yet the defender says he can’t wait to get going again.

The vastly experienced 33-year-old joined MK Dons last Friday and became Russell Martin’s second new face of the transfer window after Scottish defender Daniel Harvie.

Now, Keogh says his focus is getting fit and pulling on the MK Dons shirt for the first time. “The style of play was key for me,” Keogh told iFollow MK Dons. “I want to help the team on the pitch and also off the pitch with my experience.

“It felt like it was the right move for me to get back playing football – I’m looking forward to getting back out there.  I’ve got a little bit of hard work to do, but I can’t wait to get the shirt on and move this Club forward.

“The stadium and the set up here is first class and that’s a credit to the Chairman for creating that. It’s a great place to play football and that’s what you want, you want that in a team.

“We want to make sure we’re putting fans in their seats when it’s safe to return. We want to play an exciting brand of football and when you do that – people buy-in and feel excited about it.”

Keogh added, “I can’t wait to get on the shirt, I’m looking forward now. I’ve missed a lot of football and you’re getting someone who is excited and hungry to play football and push this team forward.”
