Gladwin looking to embrace pre-season period

Midfielder hopes to pick up where he left off in March...

5 August 2020

You would be hard-pressed to find somebody more frustrated than Ben Gladwin to have lost the last nine games of the 2019/20 season.

fter two-and-a-half-years on the sidelines due to injury, Gladwin was beginning to find his feet at Stadium MK following a January move to MK Dons.

The attacking midfielder played nine games and dazzled in the centre of the park – providing a tantalising glimpse as to what a fully-fit version of himself would be able to offer Russell Martin & Co.

While disappointed not to have taken advantage of those nine extra matches, Gladwin is now focused on picking up where he left off in March, as he and the Dons prepare for the 2020/21 campaign.

“I can’t wait to get going,” the 28-year-old told iFollow MK Dons after signing a new deal to remain with the Football Club.

“I really, really enjoyed my time here [last season]. The Club managed me really well in terms of integrating me back in after such a long time out, but just the Club giving me the opportunity last year after two-and-a-half years out was really special for me.

“It’s a shame we lost the last nine games because I felt I would have got some more valuable minutes but I get a full pre-season now to build up to the season. Getting through pre-season and building up my minutes and my confidence will be really beneficial for me.

“To be able to now look forward to a fresh season here is really exciting. We have a real identity with the way we play and if we keep that up then I’m sure the results will come.

“The manager and Luke were still able to get their points across last season but the focus was about staying in the division. To have a whole pre-season now to work on those things will be good and I’m sure it will set us up well for the new season.”
