Dons to begin away at Donny

2020/21 Sky Bet League One fixtures revealed…

21 August 2020

MK Dons will kick-off their 2020/21 Sky Bet League One campaign with a trip to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday 12 September.

Russell Martin’s men will make the trip to the Keepmoat Stadium to face Donny - their opponents in the final match before the 2019/20 season was curtailed - for a league clash that is set to take place behind closed doors due to the Government’s Covid-19 restrictions.

The Dons will then entertain Lincoln City at Stadium MK on Saturday 19 September – their first home league game of the 2020/21 season. This game, again, is set to take place behind closed doors.

To end the month of September, Martin’s side will visit one of the newly-promoted sides in Crewe Alexandra. The trip to the Alexandra Stadium is set for Saturday 26 September and, due to the Government’s Covid-19 restrictions, is expected to take place behind closed doors.

MK Dons are awaiting further details from the EFL with regards to streaming options for matches taking place behind closed doors.

It is hoped that spectators could be able to return to football stadiums in England from early October. The Dons’ first match that month is at home to Ipswich Town on Saturday 3 October, which is followed by a trip to Portsmouth (Saturday 10) and the first midweek league encounter of the 2020/21 season – an away date with Oxford United on Tuesday 20 October.

October ends with the Dons taking on AFC Wimbledon at Stadium MK, in the first of two meetings between the two sides in 2020/21. The reverse fixture against AFC Wimbledon is set for Saturday 30 January.

Three days after the home clash with AFC Wimbledon, on Tuesday 3 November, MK Dons will make the short journey to Sixfields to take on newly-promoted Northampton Town. The Cobblers will then visit Stadium MK on Saturday 20 February.

The two matches against Peterborough United will take place within the space of a month over Christmas. Martin’s outfit will host Posh at Stadium MK on Tuesday 15 December before visiting Cambridgeshire on Saturday 23 January.

MK Dons will be staying home for Christmas as they take on Bristol Rovers in a Boxing Day bout at Stadium MK. That is followed by trips to Swindon Town on Tuesday 29 December and a journey to Rochdale on Saturday 2 January. There is no New Year’s Day fixture this season.

Easter falls over the weekend of Friday 2 April and Monday 5 April. On Good Friday, Martin and his team will travel to Lincoln City, before hosting Crewe Alexandra on Easter Monday.

The Dons will then conclude their 2020/21 campaign with a home fixture against Rochdale on Saturday 8 May.
