Russell Martin has paid tribute to the MK Dons supporters who have displayed their commitment to the Club by renewing Season Tickets in their thousands.
Despite uncertainty regarding the football calendar, over 3,500 Season Ticket holders have renewed for the 2020/21 campaign – a tremendous show of faith which the Dons boss was eager to express his gratitude for.
“It’s incredible,” Martin told MKFM during a Fans Q&A with the local radio station last weekend.
“I spoke to the Club about it last week and we recorded a message for those who have renewed their Season Tickets, because to have as we have commit to the Club for next season is extremely humbling.
“I certainly feel really connected to our supporters, given how they’ve treated me since I arrived at the Club, as both a player and since taking over as manager.
“We’re extremely grateful for their support and we are just desperate to repay the faith they’ve shown in us, once we get back to playing at Stadium MK.”
Earlier in the lockdown period, Martin and several of the players spent time talking to Season Ticket holders over the phone, checking in on their welfare and offering their support during this unsettling time.
“Myself, the staff and the players were really up for it, especially speaking to some of the older supporters who may be isolating alone.
“That’s what the club is about and how we wish to connect with our supporters. Hopefully those who received the calls took something from it.”
He added: “Hopefully for everyone’s sakes we can get back to playing football in the near future. I hope everyone stays safe and well during this period so that when we get back we can get back to enjoying the journey we’re were on.”
