Nombe reflects on ‘surreal’ week

Striker made it four in four with opener against AFC Wimbledon...

9 September 2019

Sam Nombe has scored four goals in his last four appearances for MK Dons, reflecting on his red-hot form – Nombe described the feeling as surreal.

The 20-year-old made a real impression during pre-season as he netted three times. His form saw him make the Matchday Squad for four of MK Dons’ five opening fixtures.

The Academy Graduate was then handed his first chance to impress against Southend United in Round Two of the Carabao Cup – and it’s fair to say the striker took his chance.

Nombe won the header that set up Hiram Boateng’s solo run as the midfielder made the score 3-1 at Roots Hall. Not long after, Nombe had his first professional goal for MK Dons as he made it 4-1 as the game drew to a close

He could’ve then had another assist against Accrington Stanley, but was denied as Rhys Healey was judged to have been offside.

Handed his first start against Stevenage in the Leasing.com Trophy, Nombe netted twice before putting in a Man of the Match performance against AFC Wimbledon.

“It’s a been a bit surreal,” Nombe told iFollow MK Dons following the full-time whistle. “I’ve just got to keep going now.

“I’m just thankful to everyone for giving me the opportunity to score. Ultimately, they give me the opportunities to go and score – I’m also happy for the fans.

“I'm really enjoying it. Speaking to Tis and the staff, they're giving me details, telling me to get better and improving. Hopefully, there will be many more goals to come.”
