Tis: Plenty of positives

Manager Paul Tisdale reflects on Leasing.com Trophy success...

2 October 2019

Paul Tisdale took plenty of positives from Tuesday’s Leasing.com Trophy victory over Fulham Under-21s.

MK Dons made it two wins from two in the competition courtesy of a 1-0 win at Stadium MK, with Kieran Agard scoring the decisive goal five minutes into the second half.

Not only was Tisdale pleased with the result, the clean sheet and his striker, Agard, getting on the scoresheet, the Dons boss was also delighted to see one of his key men return from injury and one of his talented young players make his debut.

“There were positives,” Tisdale said in his post-match press conference.

“It's a clean sheet, a goal and it's a win. You never know what's around the corner in this competition and you can creep upon an exciting competition if you go through the rounds so it was important game for us.

“It was good for Kieran to score. Him scoring a goal and trying really hard for 95 minutes is what he needed. He’s got that and it's a step forward for him.

“Jordan Moore-Taylor pulled a shirt back on after nine months out. I'm really pleased for him. There is a big difference between being 95 per cent and 100 per cent fit but he made the first steps today. He's made of the right stuff so he’ll think and act correctly.

“Matthew Sorinola did exceptionally well, as a first year pro, making some good footballing decisions. He's diminutive but he's a talented young player who makes up for it with speed of thought and hunger to get the ball. That counts for a lot. Nights like tonight will give him that confidence."
