Mason making steps towards a return

Striker trained fully this week...

Joe Mason is a step closer to a return to action, manager Paul Tisdale confirmed in his weekly press conference.

The striker, who moved to Stadium MK in the summer, has yet to feature this term after a suffering a hamstring injury prior to MK Dons’ Sky Bet League One opener with Shrewsbury Town.

Now back in training, Mason is edging towards being in a position to make his Dons debut.

“Joe Mason has trained with the first team this week so he's a significant step closer,” Tisdale confirmed in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Sky Bet League One encounter with Tranmere Rovers at Stadium MK.

“What has changed in the last five weeks is that we've accepted we have to do things a bit different at the moment, so we're looking at our squad and personnel differently. Every week, things change. Players are another week stronger.

“It would be unfair to lump everything on him but he’s another week stronger, as are all the players who are working their way back to full fitness.”

Also back in training is midfielder Ben Reeves, who missed the defeat to Fleetwood Town.

“Often when a player has been out for a while, like he has, they are susceptible to another injury when they come back, or little niggles like he had last week, but he's back in training,” Tisdale revealed.
