Martin: We must find a way

Defender talks to Red Dot ahead of Saturday's clash with Coventry City...

18 October 2019

Russell Martin insists MK Dons must find a way to win games, regardless of their injury situation.

The Dons were without six players for last weekend’s trip to Bristol Rovers, while Jordan Moore-Taylor, Jordan Houghton and Ben Reeves were only fit enough for the bench having only just recovered from injuries.

It remains to be seen whether any of the sidelined six can return in time for Saturday’s Sky Bet League One encounter with Coventry City, but defender Martin knows the team cannot use their circumstances as an excuse not to pick up three points.

“Whatever the game throws at us, be it injuries or suspensions, we need to find a way to win games,” he told Red Dot, in an exclusive interview which can be read in Saturday’s edition of the matchday programme.

“We’re a bit frustrated with where we are sitting in the league and our current points tally. Every team goes through a dip in form throughout the season, and we’re having ours at the moment.

He continued: “We, one hundred percent, believe we can turn it around. People will look at [Saturday’s game] and say [Coventry City] are near the top and we are in poor form, but I don’t worry about that.

“Often, the atmosphere helps raise the quality for both teams. These are the type of games you need to look forward to and embrace and enjoy. It’s going to be a tough game, but hopefully a good game.”
