Matty enjoying showcasing his talents

14 November 2019

Matthew Sorinola has played in two Leasing.com Trophy games this season and has been named Man of the Match in both appearances.

The Defender made his MK Dons debut earlier in the season against Fulham Under-21s before pulling on the shirt for a second time on Tuesday night against Wycombe Wanderers.

Despite his young age and inexperience on the professional stage, Sorinola hasn’t looked out of place and impressed both the Dons faithful and those he shares a dressing room with.

“It’s always good to play,” Sorinola told iFollow MK Dons following Tuesday’s defeat to Wycombe Wanderers. “I just want to impress and play my game, I like to get it forward, keep the ball and defend well – I just try to do my best when I get the chance to impress.

“I think the way Russ wants to play football is very good. We want to get the ball moving as fast as possible and play out from the back.

“When we lose it, we want to press from the front and win it back as quick as possible. I’m enjoying it under Russ, he’s so experienced and he knows what he’s doing, we’re only going to get better under him.”

Sorinola added, “I want to thank the fans too – it means a lot to have their support and it makes me feel good.”

As a Defender, the youngster can lean on a number of experienced players in the dressing room for support, something he’s doing to develop his game both in training and in matches.

“Everyone tries to help me out and is always offering me advice to improve my game. I’m trying to take whatever I learn into matches and improve as much as possible. It’s good to have the likes of Willo, Baily, Lewie helping me in my career.”
