Mason looking to make an impact

Joe Mason back and ready to contribute after cup cameos...

16 November 2019

After two impressive cameos in the recent cup matches, the returning Joe Mason is looking to make an impact for MK Dons in Sky Bet League One.

Mason has yet to make his league debut for the Dons having suffered a hamstring injury prior to the 2019/29 season opener against Shrewsbury Town – an injury which had sidelined him up until last week.

The striker appeared off the bench in the Emirates FA Cup tie with Port Vale and the Leasing.com Trophy tie with Wycombe Wanderers, and now has eyes on featuring in the league and contributing in front of goal.

“From the moment I got here, I’ve wanted to make an impression,” Mason said in his pre-match press conference ahead of today’s trip to Bolton Wanderers.

“It has been a frustrating. I got the injury before the season even started, which is the worst time you can get injured, especially when just coming to a new team.

“It was hard being on the sidelines, but I'm trying to look forward now and put the injury behind me and help the team as much as I can. I'm really happy to be back on the pitch and hopefully I can make a contribution this weekend.”

The Dons will be in search of their first league win in 10 matches at the University of Bolton Stadium, and they’ll be looking to record it over a Bolton Wanderers outfit which Mason appeared for between 2013 and 2015.

“It will be a tough game but getting a win this weekend,” the 28-year-old said.

“They've got a good team, with some good experienced players. They started with effectively a youth team and now they've got a brand new team. It is completely different from the Bolton early in the season.”
