Gilbey praises Harley’s unselfish behind-the-scenes work

12 November 2019

Since Russell Martin was appointed MK Dons Manager Ryan Harley has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the club operates as smoothly as possible.

The 34-year-old has acted as an interim Assistant Manager under Martin, helping with the planning of the training week, taking extra finishing and defending sessions and acting as the man in the middle with the dressing room and the manager.

“Ryan Harley has been brilliant for Russ,” Gilbey told iFollow MK Dons following Saturday’s defeat to Port Vale.

“Everyone loves him in the changing room. He’s a great character, he’s always taking the mick out of people. He’s been class for the lads, he’s the voice between us and the manager – he’s a top man.”

Despite just being in charge of MK Dons for little over a week, Gilbey feels there have already been improvements and feels he'll enjoy playing for Martin.

"It’s been a big change, we’ve only been on the training pitch for three days with Russ, but I feel there has been a lot of improvements. It can only get better, and I’m looking forward to coming in on Monday and going again.

"Russ knows what I’m best at and told me to play to my strengths. I did that today and I’m going to love playing under him and I’m looking forward to the future."
