Russell Martin reserved praise for two of his players after Saturday’s Sky Bet League One clash with Bolton Wanderers.
Martin’s side were beaten 1-0 by the Trotters at the University of Bolton Stadium, with the winning goal coming deep into stoppage time, minutes after Lee Nicholls looked to have earned the Dons a point with a late penalty save.
Nicholls was one of the two players who were mentioned by Martin after the match, along with striker Jordan Bowery, who had his best game in a Dons shirt according to the manager.
“[Lee Nicholls] is a top goalkeeper at this level. He's shown that with another penalty save and with two other good saves. He deserved a clean sheet today.
“That's also the best [Jordan Bowery] has been for us. I know he's got it in him but he needs to feel wanted and part of it.
“He's given us a huge amount. He held it up well, he won his headers and pressed all game - at one point, he ran back 70 yards to press.
“Jordan is a real athlete and he can be really difficult to play against when he’s like that. We hope he can keep it up now.”
