Brittain: Russ has given us belief

Callum Brittain says Russell Martin has given the MK Dons squad belief that they can turn around their Sky Bet League One form.

The Dons have picked up just one point from a possible 30 in their last 10 matches and currently sit 21st in the Sky Bet League One table.

However, a much-improved performance against Bolton Wanderers, and a change in atmosphere around Stadium MK, has Brittain optimistic about the side’s chances of reversing course.

“It’s been great,” the Academy-produced defender told Red Dot when asked about his first few weeks working under Martin.

“He’s given everyone belief. He believes in us as a group and we believe in him. He fits the role perfectly and after the Bolton performance and with how he’s got us playing, I have real belief in this team.

“Luke Williams and Ryan Harley have helped too as well. Luke has a lot of enthusiasm about the game and gets on well with the boys. He likes us as a group and it’s nice to have him here.

“Ryan has been massive. He’s helped Russ a lot, especially in the first few days when he didn’t have his staff. He’s also helped the players, staying behind after training to do a lot of extra work with us. He’s always giving us advice and confidence boosts.

“Personally, Russ and Ryan Harley helped me a lot when they were both just players, and they’ve stuck with that since taking over. Playing under people that believe in you gives you great confidence.”

He added: “We’ve now got to repay their faith in us with results.”
