Lewie: 18/19 one of my favourite seasons

Skipper reflects on the promotion-winning campaign...

Dean Lewington views the 2018/19 season, his 16th as a professional, as one of his favourites.

The captain started every one of MK Dons’ 46 Sky Bet League Two matches en route to their promotion to the third tier, missing just 25 minutes of action across the 10 months.

Speaking to iFollow MK Dons at the conclusion of the campaign, Lewington was asked how the 2018/19 season compared to his 15 others, and the 35-year-old revealed he has it ranked very highly indeed.

“It’s probably one of my favourites,” Lewington said in an exclusive interview with iFollow MK Dons.

“Last year was so disappointing for the Club and for me, personally so to get back to some sort of normality was nice and it’s made me appreciate things a lot more.

“Being a lot older also makes you look at things differently. When you know you’ve played more than what you’ve got left, everything means a little more.

“It’s been nice to be part of this group, which is fantastic. It’s a really good group of boys and we get on well. I think that got us across the line against Mansfield, that willingness to go that extra mile for each other.

“It’s just been nice to get back winning games and playing for the Club. It’s nice to have been part of it again.”
