Tis: Three important points on offer

MK Dons could make it five wins in a row on Saturday but the manager is just focused on picking up points...

MK Dons can make it five straight victories with a win at Macclesfield Town this weekend. Paul Tisdale, though, is only viewing Saturday’s game as an opportunity to pick up three points.

Tisdale’s side head to Cheshire in terrific form and within touching distance of the automatic promotion places in Sky Bet League Two. They are two points adrift of third-place Mansfield Town and five behind second-place Bury, having played a game less.

A win at the weekend could see them move into the top three, should results go in their favour elsewhere, and while it would extend that winning run too, Tisdale is only focused on the points.

“The cliché of football is that it's all about the next game,” the Dons boss said in his pre-match press conference, “It's a cliché but it's true.

“Regardless of how we've played in the last four, it is three points available on Saturday. We feel a lot better for ourselves [because of our form] but the trap is getting complacent.”

In the Dons’ way of an important road victory is a Macclesfield Town side managed by former England international Sol Campbell.

The three-time FA Cup winner is enjoying his first spell as manager with the Silkmen and has made a positive impact at the Moss Rose.

“These former players are being given an opportunity, which is great, but more importantly they're coming in at this level and trying to prove themselves so well done to them,” Tisdale commented when asked about managers of Campbell’s experience starting out in the lower tiers.

“Football will always be interested to see how they get on, and it can only be good for coaching that players who have had great playing careers and experienced great coaching, are given an opportunity and are prepared to mix it in lower league football and improve themselves.”
