Preview: Cheltenham Town U23s

MK Dons are back in Central League South action this afternoon, looking to secure their third successive win at Cheltenham Town.

Edu Rubio’s side currently sit top of the Central League South table, level points with Plymouth Argyle but above them on goal difference.

The Dons have scored a whopping 30 goals in the Central League this term, while conceding just nine times. They have scored at least four in four of their last five matches.

Kick-off is at 1pm.

Their only win of the season came back in February, when they beat Forest Green Rovers 2-1 in a Gloucestershire derby.

The Robins have scored 11 goals in the Central League South this term while conceding 31.

It was the second successive game that the Dons had hit five, with their scoring getting underway early on through Robbie Simpson.

Dylan Asonganyi put the game beyond doubt with a 16-minute hat-trick before Simpson added a second goal to take the Dons’ tally to five. Rovers added a consolation in stoppage time.

Cheltenham Town were beaten 4-3 by Southend United in a seven-goal thriller in Essex.

The Robins led 3-1 with 15 minutes remaining but saw their lead slip away, with the host’s winning goal coming in injury time.

MK Dons have usually named strong line-ups for their Central League South fixtures this term, with those not involved in first-team action usually featuring.

That list this afternoon could include the likes of Stuart Moore, Ryan Watson, Lawson D’Ath and Robbie Simpson, who could play alongside a number of young professionals and Academy starlets.
