Lewie praises Dons’ resilience

11 March 2019

Dean Lewington has praised the mentality of the MK Dons squad after their patient performance in Saturday’s win at Moss Rose.

The Dons fell behind just 19-minutes into the Sky Bet League Two clash when Nathan Cameron prodded home from close range.

Paul Tisdale’s side, however, equalised minutes prior to half-time through David Wheeler, before goals from Callum Brittain and Kieran Agard secured all three points in Cheshire.

Lewington noted that the Dons had to remain patient and not rush their play to record their first come-from-behind win away from home this season.

“It was a difficult afternoon,” Lewington told iFollow MK Dons following the full-time whistle.

“I knew we’d get stronger as the game went on and that proved to be the case – it was a good three points.

“It took a while for us to get into our play, so it was important we stayed in the game, remained patient so we could give ourselves a platform. That was the case and as the game went on - we got stronger.”

He added, “Timing-wise, it was a great goal to get just before half-time. We’ve been in games where you are chasing a goal and it becomes more difficult the longer the game goes on.

“It was important in the context of the game as it made the second half a little bit easier for us.”
