Despite MK Dons moving into the automatic promotion places on Saturday afternoon, Jake Hesketh insists the Dons aren’t getting carried away and remain focused on the task at hand.

Hesketh played an integral role in the Dons 2-0 win over Yeovil Town and was named Man of the Match by sponsors MK Citizen.

Results elsewhere fell in favour of Paul Tisdale’s side, however, Hesketh reiterated the Club are taking it one game at a time and will not take their foot off the pedal.

“We’ve got to keep winning games,” Hesketh told iFollow MK Dons following the match.

“Everyone looks out for other results, and yeah they have gone on our way, but on another day - they won’t.

“We need to keep working hard, keep putting the points on the board – and focus on us.”

Hesketh has impressed since arriving on loan from Southampton in January, and the 22-year-old noted he’s loving playing in front of the Dons faithful.

“I’m really enjoying playing at Stadium MK. It’s a lovely surface, we keep the ball on the floor and there is a lot of space for me so I’ve always got areas to get into.

“I’m happy with how I played - I think goals will come with performances and on another day - I could’ve scored.

“I think we had to be patient, we always felt in control. The manager said at half-time don’t get complacent, which was important because they could’ve hit us on the counter – they had a good period.

“Once Chuks got the second – I think it put the game to bed.”

The Dons second goal against Yeovil was a piece of sublime individual skill from Chuks Aneke, and although the forward picked up the ball just inside Yeovil’s half – it was Jake Hesketh who will be accredited with the assist.

“I’d say it’s one of the easiest assists I’ve got in my career! I didn’t expect to get an assist when I played it into Chuks.

“I’ve got up after being fouled, I looked up, and he’s inside the box – I’m thinking I can get the assist for this – it was nice!”
