Captain not taking form for granted

Dean Lewington expecting a tough test tonight as MK Dons go in search of six in a row...

MK Dons have pulled themselves back into the top three in Sky Bet League Two but captain Dean Lewington insists the team aren’t taking anything for granted, especially with a tough game on deck this evening at Morecambe.

Lewington & Co made it five straight wins last Saturday with a 3-1 win away at Macclesfield Town - a result which saw them climb above Mansfield Town and into third place in the Sky Bet League Two table.

They have the opportunity to maintain that position this evening at the Globe Arena while a win would also see them close the gap on second-place Bury to two points with nine games left to play.

Lewington, though, knows that will be a tough ask against a Shrimpers side who are coming off the back of an impressive 3-0 triumph over Forest Green Rovers.

“We’ve got ourselves back in the pack for the race to the finish but we’re not taking anything for granted,” Lewington said after Saturday’s success at Moss Rose.

“It’s another tough game [on Tuesday]. With their win, it has given them a little bit of a cushion [above the bottom two] so that might allow them to play with a little bit more freedom.

“We’ll do our work and our prep but I’m sure it will be another difficult game.”
