Agard remains a Don

Last season’s top goalscorer extends stay at Stadium MK...

17 June 2019

Kieran Agard has signed a new deal with MK Dons which will keep last season’s top goalscorer at Stadium MK.

Agard, the Club’s third all-time league goalscorer, was set to become a free agent at the end of the month but the 29-year-old has put pen-to-paper on fresh terms to remain with the Dons.

Last season, the striker enjoyed one of the best campaigns in front of goal of any striker in MK Dons history, scoring 22 times to help fire Paul Tisdale’s men to promotion to Sky Bet League One.

He was named Players’ Player of the Year by his teammates while he also took home the Club’s Top Goalscorer award for the second time in three seasons.

“At the end of the season, I went home and had a rest and spoke to my family,” Agard told iFollow MK Dons after finalising his extension. “In the end, we couldn’t wait to get back here.

“As a Club, we’re moving in the right direction which was evident last season. It’s something I want to be a part of. I thoroughly enjoyed last season and I want to have more times like that here - I’m looking to build on last season.

“I’m thankful to the fans that have supported me. Hopefully I can give them some more to sing about.”

Agard moved to Stadium MK in August 2016, joining from Bristol City for an undisclosed fee.

The striker, who had scored 56 career goals prior to his arrival in Milton Keynes, netted twice on his debut for the Dons and went to finish as top scorer in his first campaign at Stadium MK.

Agard add eight more goals to his name in 2017/18 but almost trebled that total last campaign, finding the net 22 times en route to promotion from Sky Bet League Two.

Only the Club’s all-time leading marksmen Izale McLeod has ever scored more in a single season for the Dons than Agard, while the 29-year-old is closing in on third place in the Club’s all-time goalscorer charts.
