Agard: Dons moving in the right direction

Striker put pen to paper on a new deal earlier this week...

Kieran Agard believes MK Dons are heading back in the right direction, which made committing his future to the Football Club an easy decision.

Agard was set to become a free agent at the end of the month but, after putting pen to paper on a fresh deal earlier this week, last season’s top goalscorer will now remain at Stadium MK and will be looking to help the Dons build on a successful first season under manager Paul Tisdale.

“I’ve had three great years here,” Agard told iFollow MK Dons. “It’s just lovely to play here - the stadium, the way the fans get behind you. In the end, I couldn’t wait to get back here.

“I thoroughly enjoyed last season and the promotion, and I want to have more times like that.

“As a Club, we’re moving in the right direction and that was evident last season in the way performed and in how we came together as a team and as a Club. It’s something I want to be a part of.

“The boys have stayed in contact over the summer and we’re all excited and ready to kick on.

“I’ve had a good rest but I love football and I can’t wait to get back. I can’t wait to see the lads and get back training.”

Agard, who is about to enter his fourth season as a Don, took his club goal tally to 44 last season after enjoying one of the best campaigns in front of goal of any player in the Dons’ history.

The 29-year-old now sits third in the Club’s list of all-time league goalscorers but, heading into the 2019/20 campaign, insists he isn’t resting on those laurels.

“It was a good year for me last season," he commented. "I’m delighted to be up there [in the Club’s all-time goalscorer list], because there are some good players up there. It was also great to score my 100th goal.

“I’m looking to build on that. I’m always looking to improve.”

Agard also had a message to the MK Dons supporters, who will be able to continue singing their popular ‘Tisdale’s At The Wheel’ chant next season.

“The support I’ve had here has been great and I am thankful to the fans that have supported me. Hopefully I can give them some more to sing about.”
