£11,000 raised in Legends outing

4 June 2019

The boys were back in town last month as MK Dons Legends took to the field for their annual showpiece sponsored by Brioche Pasquier to raise money for MK Dons Sport and Education Trust (SET).

Tottenham Hotspur Legends were the opposition this time to grace the Stadium MK pitch with a strong squad of ex-pro’s including recent Premiership players Pascal Chimbonda, Sean Davis and Ramon Vega.

The Dons squad saw some new faces return for this year with Malvin Kamara, Luke Howell, Pablo Mills and double-winner Alan Navarro joining returning players Luke Chadwick, Drissa Diallo and player/ manager Izale McLeod.

The game was a lot tighter than in previous years with the Tottenham Legends putting pressure on the back four and dominating possession in the first 20 minutes. The pressure subsided when the Dons took the lead through a well-taken team goal finished by Drewe Broughton. Tottenham Legends were on even ground again shortly after when David Howells converted a penalty after a bundled foul in the box.

From then on the Dons team put the pressure on and took the game to their opponents, scoring two more goals I the first half through Luke Chadwick and Scott Taylor. The dominance continued in the second half where injuries to both teams took players out, but a goal from Izale McLeod and a brace from Scott Taylor to complete his hattrick made the day enjoyable for the 1288 fans looking on.

The match saw over £11,000 raised for MK Dons SET with additional thanks to matchball sponsor Border Engineering, Events Managed, PC Physiotherapy and Kaizen McDonalds. Maralyn Smith, CEO of MK Dons Set said “We are thrilled that the Legends have once again returned to support the SET, the support is invaluable to the work of SET enable us to support coaching and community activities across Milton Keynes.  We’d also like to give a big thank you to Matt Cove ( Events Managed Ltd) for supporting the smooth planning and delivery of the event and  (Club Associate Director) Steve Perryman for hosting a pre-match brunch that added a tremendous amount to the final total”

Melissa Bentley of headline sponsors Brioche Pasquier added, ”It has been an honour to sponsor the Legends Game again this year, bringing friends, family and legends together to support the SET.”
