MK Dons have completed the signing of Rhys Healey from Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee.

Healey, 24, spent the first half of last season on loan with the Dons but has now put pen to paper on a permanent move to Stadium MK. He becomes Paul Tisdale’s seventh signing of the summer.

The forward scored nine goals in 21 games to help fire the Dons to promotion to Sky Bet League One in 2018/19. He was twice named Player of the Month (October and November) by the supporters while his strike against Lincoln City was named Goal of the Month for September.

Healey, who went on to play three Premier League games for Cardiff City following his return to South Wales last term, has found the net 28 times in just 60 career starts.

“It was a no brainer for me,” Healey told iFollow MK Dons in his first interview since returning to Stadium MK.

“I really enjoyed my time here last season so as soon as this move come around, I was on to and desperate to get it done.

“I was keeping an eye on results every week - I was a secret fan! I was desperate for the guys to get promoted and I was really happy when we got over the line.

“I felt like I was playing some of my best football here last season so I’m ready to go again this season and kick on even more. Like last season, I want to work hard, score goals and help the team push up the league.”

Born in Manchester, Healey began his football career in Wales with Connah’s Quay Nomads before earning a move to Cardiff City in January 2013.

The forward enjoyed several successful loan spells during his time with the Bluebirds, including prolific stints at Newport County and Torquay United ahead of his fruitful five months with MK Dons during the 2018/19 season.

He leaves Cardiff City for his new home at Stadium MK having featured 16 times for the South Wales club.
