Jordan Bowery says MK Dons are ready and raring to go as their pre-season preparations begin to ramp up.
The Dons’ pre-season games programme begins officially on Tuesday with a trip to Brackley Town which will be followed by four more friendlies in the build-up to the Sky Bet League One opener with Bury on August 3rd.
Bowery, a summer signing from Crewe Alexandra, caught up with iFollow MK Dons this week from the Dons' training base in Bisham Abbey and revealed his excitment ahead of the forthcoming campaign.
“We’re all looking forward to the start of the season,” he said in his exclusive interview with iFollow MK Dons.
“We’re optimistic about what we can do and we’re buzzing to get started. We’ve got some good players here and there’s competition all over the pitch, which will help everyone push on. I knew this team was good from playing against them last year and it’s a big reason why I wanted to join.
“The games are coming now and everyone wants to get on the pitch and get minutes under their belts. I want to get minutes and goals in as well so that I can be picked for the start of the season.”
Bowery and his teammates were based at the Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre and will return to Berkshire next week to continue their season preparations.
The striker believes the squad have benefited from the camp, both on the pitch and off the pitch.
“It’s been so good far,” he said “Training has been good - it’s been intense and I’ve been enjoying it, to be fair.
“We’ve got to keep pushing on to get our fitness for the start of the season. We’ve been doing match specific work and the lads are feeling the benefit from it.
“We’re bonding here too. You’re with your teammates constantly here which means you get to have the conversations and you get to know people. It’s good to do stuff like this.”
