Boateng settling in at Stadium MK

Midfielder adapting to life as an MK Dons player...

5 July 2019

Hiram Boateng is enjoying life with MK Dons following his summer move to Stadium MK

The midfielder arrived at the Club back in early June after opting to swap Exeter City for a challenge in Sky Bet League One with the Dons and has been involved in the first two weeks of pre-season training.

“It’s been good so far,” he told the local media in his first press conference as an MK Dons player. “We’ve done some running and the footballs have been out as well - it’s been good, I’ve been enjoying it.

“The lads have helped me settle in well. I knew a few boys here already so it made it a bit easier for me to integrate in.”

He continued: “We’ve got a really good group here from what I’ve seen so far. They train really hard - training is so competitive. Everyone just wants to win.”

Boateng worked with Dons boss Paul Tisdale during his time with Exeter City and reuniting with the 46-year-old was a key reason for the former Crystal Palace youngster making the switch to Stadium MK.

“Definitely, he’s a big part of the reason why I decided to sign here,” he revealed.

“Tis’ man-management is really good. He includes the whole squad and makes everybody feel a part of it and made to feel important - it’s bigger than just the starting XI. It does make a big difference. He’s a really good manager who I have enjoyed playing under.”

Despite his familiarity with Tisdale and his management, Boateng knows he must still impress in training and in the pre-season friendlies if he is to earn a place in the starting line-up for the Sky Bet League One opener against Bury.

“For sure [I still have to impress],” he acknowledged. “I know it’s going to be an easy task because there are boys here who have done really well for the Club - I’m aware of that.

“I need to come in and show what I can do. I’ve come here to play football so I will try my best to integrate into the team and get myself into the first XI.”
