Watson & Co working to find a solution

Midfielder reflects on recent form and the job at hand...

28 January 2019

Ryan Watson recognises that the form over the last seven games has not been good enough and insists the team are doing all they can to figure out a solution.

Watson made his first league start since mid-October this past weekend but couldn’t help MK Dons avoid a third successive defeat at the hands of Grimsby Town.

“We have to do better,” the midfielder told the media after the 1-0 reverse at Blundell Park.

“We needed to create more when we were down to 10 men, but they sat behind the ball and made it hard for us.

“It's difficult for the fans, who have come a long way. We wanted three points for them.”

He continued: “It hasn't been great over the last seven games, we know that. We have to get back to what we do best.

“It's down to us to figure out how to beat these teams. We are a good team and we should be beating the teams that we've lost to.

"We need to get back on track - I think we will and we're all working hard towards that.”

Watson performed well in a slightly unorthodox right midfield position and the 25-year-old says it’s a role he enjoyed.

“I haven't been in the team much recently but I'm delighted to play today,” he said. “I enjoyed it but it’s just unfortunate we couldn't get anything from the game.”
