MK Dons' 2-1 victory over Oldham Athletic, although not pretty, was a much-needed result, according to manager Paul Tisdale.
Tisdale’s men ended a run of three straight defeats with a home win over the Latics on Tuesday, despite not being at their fluent best.
The triumph saw the Dons move back to within three points of the automatic promotion places and boss Tisdale was pleased to get a much-needed success over the line.
“We needed the result and the points,” he said at the start of his post-match press conference.
“It wasn't the best game but we got it over the line - it was a really important win for us.
“It’s fair to say we've lost a bit of rhythm in the last few games and we needed that to hopefully get us going again.
“There was some nervous energy there and it was a turgid last half hour, but I'm delighted with the result.”
While pleased with the result, Tisdale did acknowledge that Tuesday’s performance was below par and that there is still plenty for him and his team to work on.
“It reminds us of where we need to improve. At times, when things aren’t going your way, you try too hard.
“At times we needed a bit more but, in the end, we just had to see the game out. We held on to win it and I’m delighted.”
