Skipper set for 600 milestone

Paul Tisdale praises Dean Lewington...

19 January 2019

Captain Dean Lewington is set to make his 600th league appearance for MK Dons later today - a feat which has drawn praise from his manager Paul Tisdale.

Lewington, who made the first of those appearances the Club’s inaugural fixture back in August 2004, has been an ever-present name in Tisdale’s starting XI this season and saw his form recognised back in November with a Sky Bet Player of the Month nomination.

“It's quite a feat,” Tisdale said of his captain, who is also two appearances shy of reaching 700 total games for MK Dons.

“It's an achievement to have an established career in this sport but to play 600 league games, along with all the other appearances, and then for them all to come at one club, makes it all the more extraordinary. Well done him.

“Having arrived here in the summer, if there were any doubts in my mind about him and how he managed it, I've now seen it and understood it.

“Physically, he's robust; mentally, he’s very capable and he delivers on the pitch, most importantly.

“He has been a great servant to MK Dons over the years and the level of consistency has been extraordinary.

“There’s every chance he will play on Saturday, and I'll be the first to congratulate him.”
