Loan watch: Scoring start for Sam

Nombe nets in Maidenhead United's 4-2 win...

16 January 2019

Sam Nombe made a scoring start to life with Maidenhead United, helping them to a 4-2 victory over Maidstone United on Tuesday evening.

Nombe netted the third of four goals scored by the Berkshire club, who picked up a vital win to move four points clear of the National League relegation zone.

The MK Dons striker, who played 65 minutes on his first start, was involved in the build-up to Maidenhead’s second goal before heading home the team’s third with four minutes remaining in the first half.

Nombe will be looking to back-up a positive debut when Maidenhead United host promotion-chasing Solihull Moors at York Road on Saturday.

Elsewhere, Brandon Thomas-Asante made his sixth appearance for Sutton United this past weekend but couldn’t prevent them suffering a 3-0 defeat away at Spennymoor Town in the Buildbase FA Trophy Second Round.

The MK Dons winger went close to scoring early in the second half before being substituted with 25 minutes left to play.

He and his Sutton United teammates will look to bounce back when they travel to Eastleigh in the National League on Saturday.
