Lewie looking to secure vital three points

Skipper sets sights on home win...

29 January 2019

Dean Lewington says it’s ‘vital’ that MK Dons get back on track tonight at Stadium MK.

The Dons have lost their last three Sky Bet League Two matches but have the opportunity, with a win against Oldham Athletic, to reignite their promotion push and move to within three points of the automatic promotion places.

“It’s vitally important that we get back on track,” Lewington told tonight’s edition of Red Dot magazine.

“This run [of defeats] has gone on longer than we would’ve liked so we want to get back on track.

"We have been working really hard in training to do so and we’ll keep applying ourselves positively and, hopefully, we’ll get a win [against Oldham Athletic] and that will kick-start us on a run again.”

Despite their recent run of form, the Dons will be confident going into this evening’s match given their strong home record this campaign.

Lewington & Co have won nine times at Stadium MK this term and the experienced left-back is hoping they can move that total into double-figures tonight.

“We’ve had a few setbacks but generally it’s been a positive place for us to come and play,” he said.

“We generally play some really good stuff here - we’re very attack-minded and positive in what we try to do.

“We need to continue to make this a hard place for other teams to do well at, and then try to pick up a few more points away from home.”
