Gilbey: We must buck up our ideas

Midfielder looking for Dons to get back on track...

22 January 2019

Alex Gilbey insists MK Dons need to ‘buck their ideas up’ and get back on track in Sky Bet League Two.

The Dons were beaten 1-0 by Crewe Alexandra last Saturday, meaning they have won just one of their last six league matches.

The form has seen Paul Tisdale's men slip to fifth in the Sky Bet League Two table and after acknowledging that the recent results and performances haven’t been good enough, MK Dons' number 8 told local media that the team’s full focus is on improvement.

“I don’t think we were good enough [against Crewe Alexandra] and I don’t think we have been for a few weeks now,” Gilbey said in the aftermath of the defeat at Stadium MK.

“We haven’t been ourselves lately so we really need to buck our ideas up and get back on track.

“We really need to start putting things right if we want to be successful – we need to start winning games.

“It’s a big week coming up and we’ll be working hard. We’ve got a big test against Grimsby on Saturday.

“We’ve got to remain positive. I know it’s hard but we need to be and look to get back on track against Grimsby.”

Gilbey also reserved a message for the MK Dons supporters, calling on their backing to help the side turn things around.

“The fans have been brilliant,” he said. “They’ve seen some good football from us this year, but they’ve also seen some poor performances.

"I think they need to stick with us because they’ve really helped us during tough times.

“We really need to start winning games of football to repay the faith they’ve given us.”
