Dons looking to strengthen

18 January 2019

MK Dons dipped into the transfer market earlier this week and made Russell Martin their first signing of the month - don’t expect it to be the last piece of business.

Manager Paul Tisdale met with the media on Thursday and was discussed a range of topics relating to the transfer window, including whether his side will be looking to add further to their ranks.

“We're looking for more than one signing,” Tisdale confirmed.

“We’re looking to strengthen areas where we'd like to bolster or improve how we play, and then also add strength in where we are already strong - like with the signing [of Russell Martin].

“We saw in December how we were effected by having Joe Walsh and Jordan Moore-Taylor out. I don't want a repeat of that situation. I would say Russell comes into an area of strength in our squad and strengthens it further.

“I'm very happy with Russell joining us - he fits in nicely. No signing is a good signing until he has contributed but he’s the right type of signing for us here at this moment.

“We’re also looking at other signings for other reasons and other purposes.”

Tisdale was also asked for an update on Rhys Healey, who featured for Cardiff City in their Premier League fixture with Huddersfield Town last weekend.

The Dons boss confirmed that the Club remains keen on the striker returning to Stadium MK but revealed there was no change to the situation.

“It's the same as before. We'd love to have him, but he's not our player and it’s not our decision. Nothing has changed.

“We're not going to wait forever but I hope he's back with us by the end of January.”

Tisdale also dismissed interest in Ipswich Town forward Jordan Roberts, following speculation linking MK Dons with a move for forward.
