Agard: Playing in this team is a joy

Striker talks scoring goals and strength in depth…

6 January 2019

Kieran Agard’s brace against Cambridge United on New Year’s Day took his tally for the season to 13 goals.

After a tricky Christmas period, MK Dons got back on track with a 6-0 win over Colin Calderwood’s side, as they started 2019 in style.

The 29-year-old spoke highly of his teammates, and stated playing up front for the Dons, is nothing but a pleasure.

“It’s a joy to be a striker here,” Agard told the media following the full-time whistle at Stadium MK.

“I’ve scored quite a few goals so far this season, but I’m just happy to keep chipping in with them. I couldn’t score without my team, we attack from the back, that’s our starting point - we create so many chances.”

“All the boys, and the staff, were desperate to get back to winning ways. After Northampton, we got back onto the training field and worked hard.

“I think it showed, the lads were magnificent from back to front - we were all on the ball.”

It was a near-perfect start to the calendar year, as Paul Tisdale’s side scored three goals in the opening 12-minutes of the clash.

Agard praised the quick start, but noted the Dons are remaining calm, and taking the season game by game despite their impressive league position.

“It’s always good to get in front early and be on the front foot - we aimed to do that and I think that showed.

“It’s always nice to get goals early on, we just want to keep on doing what we are doing.

“We’ll take each day as it comes. It means nothing right now - we want it to count at the end of the season -we’ll get back to training and prepare for our next game.”
