Paul Tisdale was delighted to be able to send the MK Dons supporters home happy on two occasions this week.
The Dons made it two wins from two tough away trips by following up their win at Newport County with a 3-2 victory over Carlisle United at Brunton Park - results which have seen them move to within two points of the automatic promotion places in Sky Bet League Two.
Fans have had to travel over 774 miles to support their team this week but have certainly been rewarded for that commitment, and Tisdale was pleased that his side could put smiles on faces after a difficult recent spell on the road.
“They’ve had a good week and they deserve it because we’ve given them too many disappointing trips home over the last two or three months,” said the Dons boss, whose side secured back-to-back away wins for the first time since October. “Thank you, thank you very much.”
He continued: “Back-to-back wins away from a home in a week is a big step forward for us. Forgetting the league table, we feel better about ourselves after the last two results.
“Our minds are in our good place and if you think correctly, you act correctly. I always knew it would be a good game with twists and turns - I’ve been here too many times to think any different - so it was good to get some goals and nice to see out that last five minutes.
“I don’t think we’re the only ones in the EFL who are going to come under pressure when we’re a couple of goals up. Finishing off football matches is a really tough thing to do. Yes, they got one back today but we did it, we got the three points, so let’s move on."
